NEST Traffic Source Modeler
NEST TSM is an integrated workbench with
four built-in modules
- Generic Traffic Source Modeler associated to a Traffic Matrix
Generator
- Traffic Statitical Analyser
- Network Simulator
- Emulator (under development)
NEST TSM proposes a large scope of complex Traffic Sources for
mobile terminals and PC terminals for standard applications (FTP,
email, web, MMS, Push to Talk, audio codecs, video codecs, streaming
). The user can use a sophisticated editor to build new traffic
sources based on stochastic models (unitary sources, aggregated
sources, TCP/UDP sources
) and a matrix traffic editor to
build complex user behavior based on time-dependent population activity.
Using the Trace import facility, one is able to conceive new Traffic
sources fitting network real time measures. The simulation kernel
associated to an emulation platform is a Key innovative solution
to evaluate and benchmark complex IP-MPLS Networks.
NEST TSM Features :
- Reproduce in a simulation environment, or on an emulation platform
typical network multimedia traffics (HTTP, FTP, Video Streaming)
- Anticipate new traffics (video on demand
)
- Simulate population activity (call behavior)
- Simulate access nodes and backbone routers
A powerful Simulation tool for routers
& Gateways
A precise simulation router model with all devices :
- input/output interfaces,
- Multiple queues for CoS traffics
- All diffserv algorithms (CAR, shaping, scheduling, label switching,
...)
- IP & LSP routing tables
With NEST TSM one can :
- Simulate Complex Network topologies
- Use Virtual links to simplify the simulation of complex networks
(end to end losses, delay & jitter between each pair of routers)
- Simulate any combination of heterogeneous multimedia traffic
sources
- Reuse these sources for real packet injection in the emulator
(under development)
A powerful Trace Analyser
Import of Traffic Traces : NEST traces, NS Traces, SNMP traces
Statistical Analysis on packet interarrivals and packet length distribution
laws (moment fitting, correlations, autosimilarity
)
E/M algorithm
Levenberg-marquardt algorithm
